Three desserts to make in your french oven

Brownies

One of my favorite recipes for making in a french oven is brownies - there are a lot of variations of the recipes, as simple as a pre-made mix to cooking from scratch. Kathy over at Outdoor Cook has a simple brownie recipe that was built for a Dutch Oven over the campfire but can work just as well with your french oven in the indoor oven!

Fruit Crumble

Another interesting dessert to make in your french oven is a fruit crumble. You can use blueberries, cherries, apples, pears or whatever you have on hand! Le Creuset has a great recipe for a Pear, Cranberry, Maple Walnut Crumble here that was made for a braiser (a shallow variant of a french oven) but it works just as well in a traditional french oven. Fruit crumbles are great because they can be made year round - with fresh berries in the summer to apples and pears in the winter!

Bread Pudding

The last great dish we recommend cooking in your french oven is a variant on bread pudding. This recipe uses day old cinnamon rolls, nutmeg, eggs and butter to make a rich bread pudding that would be a great day-after-holiday recipe you can make with your leftover cinnamon rolls! It cooks in 40 minutes and requires minimal prep - its even recommended as a sweet and warming breakfast treat!
